For all the shopping lovers the biggest shopping area in Tokyo is called the Ginza District: Shop till you Drop. It is as iconic as Times Square in New York.
It is a great place to just walk about or even better to sit in one of the many tea and coffee shops or restaurants while watching the rest of the people just rush past.
During weekends when everything open traffic gets barred which makes it one huge pedestrian zones. When night comes huge advertising panels light up with neon advertisements light up the whole place.
It is also where you’ll find the famous Kabuki-za Theater, home to traditional Kabuki performances, as well as Shimbashi and Bunraku performances are staged.
In the Asakusa district of Tokyo, the Senso-ji Temple the city’s most famous shrine which is at the end of a long street of shops where masks, carvings, toys, kimonos, fabrics and precious paper goods are on sale. Dedicated to Kannon, the Buddist goddess of compassion, the temple was established in AD 645 and retains in its original appearance even though it has been rebuilt numerous times.
The Meiji Shrine
The Meiji Shrine was dedicated to Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shoken. The construction of the Shrine began in 1915 and was completed in 1926.
Although the original structure was destroyed during World War II it was rebuilt in 1958 it still is considered one of Tokyo’s most important religious sites.
The Tokyo Skytree it is a 634-meter tall communication and observation tower which raises out of the city like a rocket.
The country’s tallest structure and worlds tallest freestanding tower the Tokyo Sky-tree opened in 2012 and has quickly become one of the city’s most visited tourist attractions thanks to the panoramic views from its restaurant and observation decks with a base designed to for a giant tripod.
Ueno Park – Museum of Nature and Science
One of Tokyo’s oldest museums is the Ueno Park which is a museum of Nature and Science. It displays traditional Japanese outfits it also features many excellent scientific and technology displays, includes robotics and vintage vehicles.
Harajuku is the home of Japan’s most extreme teenage cultures and fashion styles, but also offers shopping for adults and some historic attractions.
The side streets are lined by many trendy shops, fashion boutiques, used clothing stores and also crepe stands and fast food outlets.
